How we work

Who you are dealing with

FORJD Limited, Unit 33, Queens Mill, Albert Place, Lower Darwen, Lancashire, BB3 0QE. Registered in England, company 13054493. VAT registered. You can reach us at info@forjd.co.uk and a person will answer.

What we make

Everything is made in our own workshop. Pieces are forged, so no two are identical, and small differences in finish, colour and hammer marks are the nature of the work rather than a fault. Copper and pewter change with time and handling. That is why we use them.

Personalised pieces

A name, a date or a message is cut into metal and cannot be undone. Please check the spelling before you send it to us. On our ordering pages you see the exact path the cutter will follow before anything is submitted, and anything that will not cut is refused there and then rather than made badly.

Because a personalised piece cannot be sold to anybody else, it cannot be returned or refunded once it has been made, unless it is faulty or it is not what was ordered. That is your legal right on bespoke goods and it is also common sense. If we have cut it wrong, we will remake it.

If something is wrong

Tell us. If a piece arrives damaged, faulty, or different from what you ordered, contact us within 30 days and we will repair it, remake it or refund it. We would rather hear about it than not.

Everything is made to order

Nothing sits on a shelf here waiting to be sold. Every piece is made after you have ordered it, so an order cannot be cancelled or refunded once the work has started, whether or not it carries a name. If something needs changing, tell us straight away and we will do whatever we can before it is cut.

That is separate from a piece being faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. Tell us and we will put it right, as above.

Prices, payment and VAT

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payment is taken securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. For organisations with an account, work is invoiced and payment terms are agreed with you directly.

Making and delivery

These are made to order, so a piece is not sitting on a shelf waiting. We will tell you what to expect and we will tell you if something changes. If you have a date that matters, a service or an anniversary, say so when you order and we will work to it.

Commissions and larger work

Trees, memorial and architectural work are quoted individually and agreed in writing before anything begins, including a deposit and a schedule. Those terms sit alongside this page rather than underneath it.

Your leaves and your tree

Where a tree stands with an organisation, the names on it belong to the families who gave them. We hold what we need to make and remake a leaf, and nothing more. See our privacy notice.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Something here unclear, or not covering your situation? Email info@forjd.co.uk and ask. We would rather explain it than have you guess.
